A gene is a piece of DNA (genetic code) that contains information about how cells are working. Genes determine the inheritance of an individual.

It is the study of genes, genetic variation and heredity in living organisms.
What is a genetic test?
It is a blood test which identifies changes in genes that can indicate the likelihood of having a disease such as colorectal cancer, diabetes or other diseases. It is still not being used to early diagnose cancer but we know that it will be useful in the future.
