Acceptability, feasibility and effectiveness of a gamified application co-designed with users to monitor cannabis and tobacco consumption: GAM-CaT study<\/h3><\/div>

Cannabis is the most widely used illegal drug in Spain. In recent years, the number of people enrolling in substance abuse programs has increased significantly because they want to stop or reduce their cannabis consumption. The majority of cannabis users are also tobacco users and the pattern of co-use of both substances is increasingly common in Western countries. However, the characterization of this pattern of consumption and the withdrawal symptoms associated with the dual use of both substances is poorly described; among other reasons, due to the complexity of the routes of consumption and the multitude of products used to consume both cannabis and tobacco, which makes it difficult to distribute withdrawal symptoms between both substances.

To evaluate the acceptability, feasibility and effectiveness of a gamified mobile application (app) co-designed with people who are beginning a process of quitting or reducing cannabis consumption \u2013 aimed at clinical follow-up and monitoring of consumption patterns and changes in consumption, withdrawal syndrome and adherence to treatment.
<\/p><\/div><\/div>

\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\tMethods<\/span><\/div>

Mixed methods research consisting of three studies.

Study I: qualitative participatory action study aimed at exploring the experiences and preferences of cannabis consumers regarding the use of apps. This information will be fundamental in the co-design of the gamified app.

Study II: prospective longitudinal study aimed at evaluating the implementation (acceptability, fidelity, etc.) of the app and its effectiveness in studying changes in various behavioral outcomes (abstinence, reduction in cannabis-tobacco consumption, etc.) compared to the historical cohort. Sample size: expected RR =1.20, \u03b1 = 0.05, \u03b2 = 0.20, loss = 20% (n=282). Analysis; incidence, relative risk using Cox regression models (RR and 95% confidence intervals) and Machine Learning, to estimate the probability of changes (relapse\/reduction).

Study III: phenomenological study to explore the experiences of participants, with thematic content analysis and triangulation of qualitative and quantitative results.<\/p><\/div><\/div>
