Cessation of tobacco consumption is recommended during care and treatment for alcohol and\/or cannabis use<\/h3><\/div>

Around 80% of people with alcohol and\/or cannabis use disorders are smokers. Starting a process of quitting these main substances constitutes an opportunity to quit smoking. However, it is unknown whether these smokers receive help to quit smoking in Drug Addiction Care and Monitoring Centers (CAS) and what their experiences, barriers and facilitators are in quitting tobacco use. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\tObjectives<\/strong><\/span><\/div>

To identify the predictors associated with quitting tobacco use in smokers undergoing treatment for alcohol and\/or cannabis treated in CAS centers in Catalonia.
<\/p><\/div><\/div>

\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\tMethods<\/strong><\/span><\/div>

Project with sequential mixed methodology (qualitative-quantitative-qualitative) consisting of three sub-studies.

– Study I of discussion groups of CAS clinical professionals to explore the barriers and facilitators of these smokers to quit smoking and the interventions carried out
– Prospective cohort study II of smokers in treatment for alcohol and\/or cannabis in CAS with a 12-month follow-up to evaluate abstinence from tobacco consumption, quit attempts, motivation and self-efficacy.
– Study III of discussion groups of smokers in treatment for alcohol and\/or cannabis selected according to their typology for greater discursive variability.

Understanding and describing this phenomenon will improve the content of the components that should be included in future intervention programs. In this way, it will be possible to design better evidence-based programs that take into account the characteristics of the users and clinicians involved. <\/p><\/div><\/div>
