Tobacco pricing and control policies in Europe<\/h3><\/div>

Tobacco Pricing and Control Policies in Europe (PPACTE)<\/strong><\/a> is a three-year collaborative project funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7).
<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n

\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/path><\/svg>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\tObjectives<\/strong><\/span><\/div>

PPACTE<\/strong> will analyse the impact of tobacco prices and taxes on tobacco tax policy and control in Europe and provide recommendations to Member States and the European Commission. PPACTE will provide an understanding of how to use pricing policies for effective tobacco control in Europe, which is essential to address the burden of tobacco-related disease. This is complicated, however, by the diversity between Member States in terms of their stage of the tobacco epidemic and their level of tobacco control development, as well as their economic, cultural and political environment.

The FP7 structure has enabled the RIFTFS Institute to assemble a multidisciplinary team with some of the best health economists, epidemiologists, public health specialists and tobacco control policy experts under its leadership. The partners are: Tobacco Free Research Institute Ireland (TFRI) (Coordinator), International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) France, The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) Finland, Istituto di Reserche Farmacologiche Mario Negri (IRFMN) Italy, International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD) France, University of Bath UK, ICO Spain and HBSA USA <\/p><\/div><\/div>
