Evaluations of compliance with the law in the first year of its implementation were positive, with significant decreases in concentrations of ultrafine particles, CO and benzene in pubs and significant improvements in the lung function of waiters. In Spain, the \u201claw regulating the sale, supply, consumption and advertising of tobacco products\u201d (Bill 121\/000036) was implemented in 2006. The cohort was formed by a convenience sample of smoking and non-smoking restaurant workers in 5 Autonomous Communities (n=431 in total). These participants, identified before the law, were contacted at 4 different times: before the law and at 4 months, 16 months and 24 months after the law came into force.
