{"id":14440,"date":"2025-09-30T10:13:38","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T09:13:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icoprevencio.cat\/uct\/the-tobacco-control-unit-at-the-annual-meeting-of-the-spanish-society-of-epidemiology\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T10:14:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T09:14:12","slug":"the-tobacco-control-unit-at-the-annual-meeting-of-the-spanish-society-of-epidemiology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icoprevencio.cat\/uct\/en\/the-tobacco-control-unit-at-the-annual-meeting-of-the-spanish-society-of-epidemiology\/","title":{"rendered":"The Tobacco Control Unit at the annual meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>From September 2 to 5, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hosted the <strong>XLIII Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE)<\/strong> , which this year was held under the motto <strong>\u201cEthics, lifestyle habits and action in Public Health\u201d<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n<p>The meeting was attended by professionals from the <strong>Tobacco Control Unit (UCT)<\/strong> of the Catalan Institute of Oncology, who presented several oral communications related to smoking control and health promotion.<\/p>\n\n<p>Among the studies presented by the UCT team, work related to:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cannabis consumption in users who combine cannabis and tobacco in Spain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inequalities in access to brief interventions for cancer prevention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The creation and promotion of <strong>smoke-free homes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>One of the most relevant moments of the meeting was the presentation of the monograph:<br \/> <strong>&#8220;20 years of application of the measures of the Framework Convention of the World Health Organization for the prevention and control of smoking in Spain&#8221;<\/strong> , drawn up by the smoking working group of the SEE, made up of professionals from the UCT and other relevant institutions in the field.<\/p>\n\n<p>The SEE annual meeting has established itself as a key space for the <strong>exchange of scientific knowledge<\/strong> , the debate on public health policies and the updating of lines of action in epidemiology.
