Investigadores de la Unidad de Control del Tabaco han identificado los factores asociados a los cambios en el patr\u00f3n de consumo de tabaco durante y despu\u00e9s de un mes deL alta hospitalaria entre las personas fumadoras. Este trabajo ha sido publicado en la revista \u00abInternational Journal of Nursing Scholarship\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El estudio incluy\u00f3 una cohorte representativa de fumadores adultos de cuatro centros (2 de Catalu\u00f1a y 2 de Portugal). Se observa que tres de cada cuatro pacientes fumadores est\u00e1n abstinentes durante la hospitalizaci\u00f3n.  Adem\u00e1s en Catalu\u00f1a los fumadores que intentaron dejar de fumar y fueron preguntados sobre su consumo presentaron m\u00e1s frecuencia de abstinencia. Despu\u00e9s del alta un 50% de los fumadores se mantuvieron sin fumar y los que continuaron redujeron una media de 5 cigarrillos por d\u00eda. El estudio pone de manifiesto como la hospitalizaci\u00f3n es un momento clave para fomentar el abandono y como se necesitan intervenciones de apoyo a la alta para mantener y promover la abstinencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
