Armando Peruga is the Program Manager for Tobacco Free Initiative within the Division of Chronic Diseases at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva. He studied Medicine in Zaragoza and later graduated from Master and Doctoral programs in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He was the Dean of the National School of Public Health and later Director of the Research Institute on Health and Welfare in Madrid. Dr. Peruga began to work with the Pan American Health Organization in 1990, where he first worked on HIV and became the leader of the tobacco control team until the beginning of 2006 when he moved to Geneva to join the Tobacco Free Initiative at WHO headquarters. He has authored more than 50 peer reviewed scientific articles mainly in the field of tobacco control.
