UCT at IDIBELL PhD Day

Two pre-doctoral students from the Tobacco Control Unit, Judith Saura and Jassia Zafar, attended the PhD Day organised by the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) on 8 November. This day was a very enriching opportunity to explore the use of new Artificial Intelligence tools in research, to meet innovative projects of other pre-doctoral students from different disciplines and to give visibility to the ongoing work at UCT.

During the day, Judith Saura presented a poster on her PhD project DuCATA_GAM-CAT. This work presents the preliminary results of the monitoring of participants attending drug treatment and monitoring centres, with the aim of characterising the pattern of cannabis-tobacco use and its withdrawal symptoms, providing valuable data to better understand this phenomenon and improve treatment.

The conference was an opportunity to highlight the research work being done at UCT in relation to cannabis and tobacco use.
