Spanish experts present key findings of Joint Action on Tobacco Control 2 at Spanish Ministry of Health

Members of the Tobacco Control Unit (UCT) of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and other Spanish experts recently presented the key findings of the Joint Action on Tobacco Control 2 (JATC2) at the Ministry of Health.

The conference, organised by the UCT, was attended by representatives of all the Spanish organisations involved in JATC2. These included the International University of Catalonia (UIC), the National Committee for the Prevention of Smoking (CNPT), Nofumadores.org and the XQNS citizens’ initiative.

All speakers presented key findings from their workpackages. Anna-Mar López and Dolors Carnicer, from the Tobacco Control Unit, made presentations on the regulation of tobacco products and smoke-free environments, advertising, promotion and sponsorship of tobacco products.

The general objective of this project is to support the implementation of the European Tobacco Directive (TPD) and also the European Directive on Tobacco Advertising (TAD), to promote activities aligned with the objectives of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) of the World Health Organization (WHO).
