Eva Gavilán defends doctoral thesis on smoking cessation in pre-Surgical care

On September 30th, Eva Gavilán, a nurse at Vall d’Hebron Hospital and researcher at the Tobacco Control Unit (UCT), defended her doctoral thesis at the International University of Catalonia (UIC).

The thesis, titled “Effectiveness of Pre-Surgical Interventions to Promote Smoking Cessation, Level of Intervention and Factors Related to Implementation in Pre-Surgical Visits in Catalan Hospitals”, was supervised by Dr. Esteve Fernández and Dr. Cristina Martínez, both members of the UCT.

The research was previously reviewed by Dr. Montse Puig and Dr. José María Martínez-Sánchez. The defense was evaluated by a panel consisting of Dr. Maite Moreno and Dr. David Lorente.

We would like to congratulate Eva on this important milestone, which represents a significant contribution to the knowledge of tobacco prevention and control in hospital settings. Her research strengthens our group’s commitment to applied research and the improvement of clinical practice.

Welcome, Dr. Gavilán!
