Engaging in international workshop to advance tobacco-free hospital initiatives

On September 29, 2025, the Global Network for Tobacco Free Healthcare Services (GNTH) hybrid international workshop, entitled “Gold meets Gold” , was held at the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk (Poland). The meeting brought together professionals from several countries in Europe and Asia with the aim of sharing experiences and strategies to advance towards tobacco- and nicotine-free healthcare environments.

The program included inspiring talks, presentations of good practices by Gold- certified hospitals, discussions on the certification process ( Bronze–Silver–Gold ), networking opportunities and a guided tour of different departments of the host hospital.

Representing the Catalan Network of Smoke-Free Hospitals and the Tobacco Control Unit of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), Laura Antón actively participated. During the day, she presented the experience and trajectory of the Catalan Network, highlighting its pioneering and leading role in the promotion of smoke-free health services. Her intervention also allowed for the strengthening of international collaboration in the field of tobacco prevention and control.
