The Tobacco Control Unit (UCT) of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) participated in the XXXV edition of the School of Public Health of Menorca on the 23rd and 24th of September. Researchers Cristina Martínez and Olena Tigova, together with Prof. Maria E. Fernández, Professor of Health Promotion and Director of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research at the University of Texas, thaught a masterclass on ‘Implementation Science: approaches in applied research’.
The course provided an introduction to implementation science in public health and health services. Much of tobacco control involves implementation studies and dissemination of interventions. For this reason, a number of UCT members attended the course to be trained and to put this methodology into practice in the unit’s future projects.
