The Tobacco Control Unit (UCT) of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) continues to grow. Two new members have joined its multidisciplinary team.
Montse Fernández, a nurse with more than 20 years of experience at the health centre, joins the team as a nurse in the smoking counselling unit, responsible for diagnosing, treating and monitoring the smoking cessation process of patients who come to the unit. Fernández holds a degree in Nursing from the University of Barcelona (1995) and a Masters in Nursing and Palliative Care Services Management (UB). In the past, she has been involved in the hospital’s palliative care team and cancer screening unit.
David Fernández, who joins the team as a biostatistician, has a degree in Nursing from the University of Lleida and a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Barcelona. He has previously worked as a nurse in different health centres and as a health promoter at the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia.
