On September 22 and 23, the Tobacco Control Unit of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) led a training within the framework of the Joint Action Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (JA PreventNCD) , a European initiative that promotes coordinated strategies to reduce the burden of cancer and other non-communicable diseases through the prevention of risk factors and health promotion.
The training, held at the ICO, was aimed at teams from Cantabria (IDIVAL) and Valencia (FISABIO), partners of the project, with the aim of training them to implement the Smoke -Free Homes initiative, developed by ICO-IDIBELL in Catalonia. This action is part of the area of creating healthy environments of the JA PreventNCD project.
During the two days, the participating teams were able to delve deeper into the project methodology, exchange experiences and define the steps for the future implementation of the pilot studies, planned between November 2025 and December 2026 in the communities of Valencia and Cantabria.
The meeting was highly valued by all parties and contributed to strengthening collaboration between the different project partners, moving towards the promotion of healthier and smoke-free environments.
