XV SCATT Conference: another year committed to the prevention and control of smoking

The Tobacco Control Unit (UCT) of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) has participated once again in the 15th Conference of the Catalan Society for the Care and Treatment of Tobacco Consumption (SCATT) . This new edition has brought together more than 350 health professionals, researchers and specialists in the treatment of smoking to address current challenges in the prevention and control of tobacco consumption.

Under the slogan Together for health, no step back! , the event focused on new forms of nicotine consumption and the need for legislative regulation to curb its expansion, especially among the young population. The day included round tables, keynote lectures and the presentation of innovative projects in smoking cessation, such as the Smoke-Free Homes project, presented by Isabel Barroso from the Tobacco Control Unit, which was awarded by the organizing entity. UCT predoctoral researcher Judith Saura also spoke at a round table on the implications of dual cannabis-tobacco consumption.

Once again, UCT has demonstrated its excellence in research and treatment of smoking. Through the work presented, the team has highlighted its significant contribution to advancing knowledge and addressing what continues to be the leading cause of preventable mortality in our country and in the world.
