Tobacco Control Unit participates in the 2025 Dissemination and Implementation Science Conference in Washington, DC

Researchers from the Tobacco Control Unit, Cristina MartĂnez and Olena Tigova , participated in the main international congress on Dissemination and Implementation Science, which was held in Washington DC from December 14 to 17, 2025. They presented results from several research projects of the Unit, strengthening collaborations in implementation science and participating in training activities in this area.

Both researchers participated in a workshop dedicated to the use of Implementation Mapping for the adaptation of health programs, a methodology especially relevant to the two projects currently under development in the Unit: Smoke-Free Homes and PIECES . In addition, they presented the progress of these projects through communications in poster format.

On the other hand, the congress hosted the first in-person meeting of the Spanish-speaking Network of Implementation Science Researchers , an initiative promoted, among others, by the LISTOS project team. Researchers from the Tobacco Control Unit are part of this network.

Furthermore, given the relevance of the Unit’s work in the field of tobacco control within the ICO Cancer Prevention and Control Program, the researchers participated in the meeting of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network (CPCRN) , a network of centers that work in implementation science applied to cancer prevention in the United States.

Finally, within the framework of the congress, a meeting was held with Professor Maria Fernandez and Dr. David Chambers , members of the Advisory Board of the PIECES project . This meeting allowed to review the progress of the project, analyze the main challenges and define the next steps.

Participation in this conference strengthens the international positioning of the Tobacco Control Unit in the field of implementation science and contributes to enhancing the impact of its public health research projects.
