The Tobacco Control Unit of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is opening a new call to recruit one person to join its team from July 1 to 31, 2026, within the framework of a European project aimed at evaluating smoke-free beach policies in municipalities across the province of Barcelona.
This opportunity offers the chance to directly contribute to promoting healthier environments and protecting public health through data collection in coastal areas.
What will the job involve?
The selected candidate will take part in fieldwork with the following main tasks:
- Observing signs of tobacco use on smoke-free beaches (presence of cigarette butts and people smoking)
- Conducting brief interviews with beach users about smoke-free beach policies
- Recording the collected information using a mobile application
What is offered?
- Summer contract from July 1 to July 31, 2026
- Part-time schedule of 4 hours per day
- Gross monthly salary of €1,200
- Initial training and all materials needed to carry out the work
- Certificate of completion of the work carried out
Candidate profile
A minimum qualification of intermediate vocational training (FP) is required. Training in the following areas will be valued:
- Health Sciences
- Social Sciences
- Environmental Sciences
- Engineering or related disciplines
The following will also be considered:
- Previous experience in fieldwork or research data collection
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize work and work independently
- Ease of using mobile applications
- Motivation and interest in public health and the environment
